No lie, I spent an embarrassing amount of time, money, and effort selecting the sheets for Solitude House. Comfy beds were a top priority because if our guests don’t sleep well, it could color their entire stay. The sheets I choose feel better (to me anyway) than brands such as Pottery Barn, at a fraction of the cost.

My search started by browsing a pile of Airbnb host groups on Facebook plus a few other online resources.

I discovered two camps, many hosts that go for microfiber sheets because they are soft and affordable, and a small but passionate group that swear by 100% cotton because it is breathable and fresh feeling.

I’ve long favored cotton sheets, but I figured I’d be open minded because good cotton sheets are EXPENSIVE. So, I ordered a bunch of microfiber sheets by a popular brand on Amazon. They were great sheets if you’re into microfiber, but they didn’t win me over, so they were returned.

Next, I tried Target’s higher-end 100% cotton sheets. They felt okay but wrinkled horribly! I kept them as back-up sheets and continued my quest.

Bamboo was next in the line-up. Sustainable and soft, I thought I may have found a winner. Sadly, a few washes in I noticed pilling. Not okay for our guests.

Finally, I spotted a post about Feather and Stitch sheets and decided to give them a try. They’re 100% cotton sateen weave meaning they don’t wrinkle as bed as standard weave. We used them at home for a couple of months and I knew we had a quality product to share with guests. While they are more expensive than others we tried, they’re still surprisingly affordable for 100% cotton sateen sheets.

Since we opened our doors, one of the most common comments we receive is “the beds are comfy” and even “love the Feather and Stitch sheets” which tells me the checked for buying info 🙂

In addition to the sheets, I also obsessed over all the bedding and the beds themselves, so I’ll share that journey over a few posts.
