My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Erika’s beautiful home. Getting in was very easy, the home was beautifully furnished, and the whole place was spotless. The beds were very comfortable and the baby/toddler accessories were very helpful (high chair, pack-and-play, baby gate). Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Sudden Valley.
Erika is so hospitable. So many little details to make you feel a home- water in the fridge and candy placed in bedrooms. Her place is beautiful and so cozy. Would highly recommend.
The house is beautiful, quiet, and very relaxing. Steve and Erika have put a lot of attention into the details of their rental including nice decor, linens, all the kitchen gear you could need, games, and we even got to break in brand new baby gear they provided! The house is in beautiful sudden valley area, close to Lake Whatcom and surrounded by forests and trails. Steve and Erika were great hosts who made us feel right at home – they even sent us a care package when we got sick during our stay! We would love to have the opportunity t stay here again ♥️

There’s a market that serves sandwiches and more, plus two good restaurants within 5 minutes of the house.
· Valley Market & Deli
· Tino’s Pizza & Pasta
· El Agave Mexican Restaurant
Bars & Lounges
We like grabing a margarita from El Agave near the house. In town there are a large number of brew pubs to choose from with lot’s of local vibe.
One of our favorites is the Chuckanut Bay Distillery which also serves tasty food.
Arts & Culture
One of our top spots is actually a bookstore in the Fairhaven neighborhood, The Village Bookstore. If you’d like a walk also, start at Boulevard Park and walk there and back.
Other places to check out:
- The Spark Museum of Electrical Invention
- The Whatcom Museum
- Bellingham Railway Museum
Coffee Shops & Cafes
Bellingham is full of great coffee shops and cafes!
Our personal favorite is Wood’s Coffee at Boulevard Park because of the stunning wide bay view and walking trails.
Also check out:
- Makeworth Coffee Roasters
- Locus
- The Wild Oat Bakery
Outdoor & Adventure
If you would like to play outside, we have a great hiking at the Lookout Mountain Trailhead 3 minutes (or walking distance) from the house, and a beach area near the Sudden Valley Marina. Also check out Whatcom Falls Park ~ it’s beautiful!
For a short hike, there is a trail past the house on Horseshoe Cir where the road widens (about 8 houses). Look for a simple sign post.
Day Trips
Hop a ferry in Anacortes for an hour long scenic ride to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. Plan to spend a full day touring the area because there’s lot’s to see. Pro tip: the ferries occasionally run behind, so don’t schedule anything too tight after your return. For more info visit https://www.visitsanjuans.com/friday-harbor
